On this page you will find what will be coming up as an article or a review in the near future.
Our very next feature will be a look at what women are like when men aren’t around? And are women funny? Expect this piece which will be called Hangin’ With the Girls in the next day or so. The subjects are in the image directly below.
Plus, we have some film to review that are opening over the next few weeks. (I’ll edit those in soon).
Staying with women, here’s another of these boy meets girl type of films. This time the leads are Ewan McGregor and Eva Green. The title is Perfect Sense, which makes perfect sense as this film is a quasi-apocalyptic film, only instead of everyone being blown to smithereens – the populace will lose its collective senses like smell, taste, etc.
To change it up a bit – there’s Woody Harrelson as an L.A. cop circa 1999. This one is called Rampart and looks interesting. However who knows if it will come to a theater in this part of the country.
I believe as today April 2nd, We Need to Talk About Kevin with Tilda Swinton and John C. Reilly , is in toen and playing at the Burns Court Cinema. The other film in the image below, Loosies – a tale of a Manhattan pickpocket, is nowhere to be found. I saw an update from Didion of the Feminema blog – We Need to talk About Kevin only opened in 10 theaters in the whole country.
Just so you know, there could be other films that I’ll have a look at – but since that’s within the realm of the ‘time unknown’ we’ll omit them from this page for the present. I’ll have more about a few TV series, and my 2nd look at a book series about another Bangkok, Thailand detective. This time he’s not from New York and he is not half-Jewish nor half-Italian. He is Sonchai Jitleecheep. This guy is not a P.I. No, he is half Thai and works for Bangkok’s police under the command of Colonel Vikorn, a powerful Bangkok cop. There have been a number of books written in this series. The author is John Burdett. His books are very popular and I first discover his books not in Thailand but at the airport in Hong Kong. I recently finished Vulture Peak, a novel in which Sonchai looks into trafficking in human organs. I’m currently reading Burdette’s latest Sonchai Jitleecheep thriller called The Godfather of Kathmandu.
I’ll do a piece on the Burdett books soon. It will be my third post on Bangkok detectives. Also scheduled for a late June or early July publication will be my review of the latest Poke Rafferty thriller by Timothy Hallinan called The Fear Artist. The book will be published in early July, so look for my review around that time.
